Fanny “Bobbie” Rosenfeld’s 118th Birthday

I was thrilled to see Bobbie Rosenfeld featured in the Google Doodle of Dec. 18/22! Let’s not forget her importance as a formidable Canadian Jewish woman athlete and journalist. I was honoured to write her biography: Bobbie Rosenfeld: The Olympian Who Could Do Everything (Second Story Press, 2004).

KidLit Authors Showcase

On December 12, 2022, I was honoured to be included in the AJL’s (Association of Jewish Libraries) KidLit Authors Showcase, where I talked about She’s a Mensch! : Ten Amazing Jewish Women. It was wonderful to see how connections were made between books and people. Thank you to all the organizers and participants for a fascinating look into new Jewish children’s books, and for the authors’ grace, passion, and support.

Bobbie Rosenfeld and The Matchless Six in the News!

I was delighted to be interviewed last week by Rob Pizzo, CBC sports journalist. He’s telling unknown stories about some of Canada’s greatest athletes, like Donovan Bailey (sprinter) and Victor Davis (swimmer). It was wonderful to recall the work I did on my book, Bobbie Rosenfeld: The Olympian Who Could Do Everything. AJL Authors Showcase

On November 9, 2021, I was delighted to talk about Jacob and the Mandolin Adventure in the AJL Authors Showcase! We presented our books for young people, and what a wonderful variety there was: fiction and non-fiction; picture books, middle-grade books, and YA books. I’m looking forward to reading many of the books mentioned last night. Thanks to Heidi Rabinowitz and Ellen Drucker-Albert for organizing this terrific event, and Sylvie Shaffer for her warm and intelligent moderating!

YouTube video of interview: Jacob and the Mandolin Adventure

I’m pleased to share the YouTube interview that Ellin Bessner did with me and Dave Fleishman about Jacob and the Mandolin Adventure. It was a delight to discuss how I researched and wrote this historical novel as well as the “back story” about Morris Saxe. Here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nqm8Dpz7q8E
